RESTAURANTS, NIGHTLIFE & SIGHTSEEING

Mark Twain remarked: "I thought it must be the fairest picture the whole earth affords" at his first glimpse of Lake Tahoe. You can have the same experience while eating or having cocktails from the lake-view decks of the many fine restaurants in Tahoe City. In addition, many of the restaurants and businesses, within walking distance, give our hotel guests 10% discount, just by showing the V.I.G. CARD they receive upon registration at our hotel:
--Enjoy Karaoke fun, starting at 8 PM each Tuesday night at The BLUE AGAVE Restaurant. Their Happy Hour is from 4-6 PM Sunday through Friday and you get 15% discount off your meals just by showing the V.I.G. card you receive when registering at the hotel.
--ROCK'S ROTISSERIE, in the Cobblestone Mall next door, overlooks the lake with inside and outside seating.
--ROSIE'S CAFE has been the fun place to be since 1980 with their moderately priced food and beverages.
--SIERRA VISTA is a lakefront restaurant with fantastic views, located in the historic roundhouse for Tahoe's old railroad.
--FIRESIGN CAFE, near Sunnyside, serves excellent home style breakfasts from 7Am to 3PM each day.
--The TAHOE CITY DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION promotes
numerous events around the new $6 million Commons Beach and Amphitheatre across the street from our hotel such as: Lakeside Summer Concert Series--Outdoor movies and talks by wildlife experts each Wednesday evening-- Tahoe Talks by local historians and rangers every Thursday 6-7PM-- Numerous local restaurants and businesses provide special discounts, live music, wine tasting, etc., shown by the balloons in front of their businesses.

It is only a short walk to other points of interest such as Fanny Bridge and the Gatekeeper's Museum. Spectacular views await you as you drive around Lake Tahoe, 22 miles in length, 12 miles in width and containing enough water to cover the entire state of California to 14 inches deep.

A fifteen minute drive takes you to the BILTMORE, CAL NEVA and CRYSTAL BAY Casinos on the North Shore and it's only a 40 minute drive to the colorful high-energy nightlife of Reno, Nevada. Take your time as you drive around the lake and visit historical spots such as the DONNER LAKE MUSEUM and historic VIRGINIA CITY where highlights include the Fourth Ward School, Piper's Opera House and the newspaper for which Mark Twain toiled as Samuel Clemens. You can also take the V&T Railroad Tour, a 35-minute round-trip tour taking you from Virginia City to Gold Hill and back.
