WINTER
RECREATION
Whether
it is winter or summer, spending the day outside in the sun and
fresh air at Lake Tahoe is an "experience" in itself.
With 350 to 500 inches of snow and 300 days of sunshine every
year, nowhere is the spirit of a white Christmas more alive than
in Tahoe City in December!
From
skiing and snowboarding at the area's numerous resorts to skating,
sledding, and snowshoeing and, that old-fashioned favorite, the
snowball fights, Tahoe City has the answer for kids of all ages:
--Tahoe City is at the center of the largest concentration of
ski and snowboard resorts in North America.
--It is only a short 10 to twenty minute drive to any of nine
"World Class Alpine Ski Resorts" such as Alpine Meadows
and Squaw Valley, USA, site of the 1960 Winter Olympics.
--Shuttles are available to Alpine Meadows or Squaw Valley. TART
buses are available to Homewood and other areas.
--No matter how much snow we get, you will always be able to get
around in our parking lot--large enough for boats, trucks or motor
homes.
--Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area (530-583-5475), only two miles
east of our hotel has over 65 kilometers of well-groomed trails
and 2 trailside warming huts with beautiful views of Lake Tahoe.
--Take a scenic Cable Car ride at Squaw Valley, a spectacular
ride of 2000 vertical feet to High Camp where you can also enjoy
ice skating for the whole family. Skating lessons are available
at High Camp. You can also "snowtube" in a spectacular
bowl outside High Camp.
--Snowmobiles may be rented on the snow-covered golf course behind
our hotel. You can view Lake Tahoe from the top of Mt. Wilson
on a snowmobile guided tour.
--At the end of the day, enjoy yourself in our "Lake View
Spa" and enjoy the views, even when it is snowing.
